design related 2/6/09

I’m starting this blog with a collection of “design related” links that I used to send out on a daily basis to my colleagues. I’ve edited the accompanying text - a little - to protect the innocent and hopefully make more sense to you.

Woo hoo, Friday! Woo hoo 47 degree high tomorrow!

A really cool (to me) link today. SmartHistory is a growing online art history textbook of sorts. Art history was my favorite “not graphic design” class by far. Even though it was first thing in the morning and lasted two hours I always loved it. The way a slight deviation from the norm gathers steam and congeals into a bona fide movement is so fascinating. As well as the way art reflects so much of a society: the religion, the culture, the… just everything. Anyway, I think this site is for art history dorks like me, and I think that’s great.

A couple of honorable mentions too. If anyone finds themself at a Target store this weekend, you should really take an extra second to check out the new Umbra line of household items. Really nice affordable design. Also, I read an interesting and brief article about a health practice in NYC that has taken a new online based approach to healthcare. Thought with all the healthcare stuff we do it might be an interesting conversation starter or something.

See ya monday!
