I have a feeling that this is about to be all over the web:
Great use of die cut
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on January 11th, 2010
Courtesy of Graphic Exchange, comes this great use of die cut in a folder. There are pix of some of the other pieces in the system, but it’s that first one that really impressed me.

They mesmerized, skeletons… kids with guns

Never before has a Gorillaz quote been so apropos. Thanks to friend/colleague/man-of-many-names Thomas Nebesar for this link.
HEAD’S UP… THE LINK TAKES A LITTLE NAV:
Simulations> Immersion> Photos> Play video
If you follow that, you’ll be rewarded with front and center video of kids playing violent video games. Their faces and gestures speak volumes.

I see faces everywhere
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on November 11th, 2009
Awesome!! There’s now a web log dedicated to the “faces” that crop up in inanimate objects. When I was a kid I thought the little tub drain/shower switch thingy was a face for sure, and ever since I’ve always recognized a face in random objects. Glad to know I’m not alone.

Totally tubular pix, dude

I know someone that goes surfing on Lake Erie.
True Story.
Anyways, these pix are definitely not taken in our great lake, but they are pretty rad anyway.
Catch ya on the flip, brah.

Earbudeez package design
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on October 14th, 2009
Nice packaging design from Audiovox! Love that they expanded upon the concept to create an entire line of packaging with different “personalities” and that they didn’t limit themselves to one position for the ear buds. Kudos.

Carved wood sculpture
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on September 30th, 2009
Wow. All carved by hand, artist Gehard Demetz’ sculptures have a strange poignancy to them. Any statue has the inherent quality of freezing a moment in time. His wood carvings however, assembled from multiple pieces of wood, evoke a certain sense that these represent very singular moments in time. The Janga like missing sections suggest that while the memories might be distant and not totally whole, the experience is still very real.

Skull a day
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on September 21st, 2009
For a while, I tried to update this blog once a day. I succeeded for a little bit, but then I started to slack off. Now I’m happy if I’m able to post every couple of days. All I really do on here is find cool stuff on the net and post about it with a link to more of said cool stuff.
Skull-A-Day blows my mind because not only is it a blog where the author actually posted EVERY single day (even in the beginning, when I was all starry eyed about doing this, I still took off weekends at least) but all the posts are stuff he created! I give you one guess what they’re all about…
Anyway, really cool and creative stuff abounds on this site. Shows you how sometimes having rules and limitations actually fosters more creativity than total freedom.
Back in a couple of days…

826 Strikes again
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on September 11th, 2009
Quick post cuz I’m super busy but I feel bad that it’s been so long since last time. And this is awesome, so I had to post it.
826, my hands-down favorite charity/giving back to the community organization has revamped their Boring Store site. You might remember them as the minds behind the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Store, which I wrote about awhile ago.
The new Boring Store (AKA the “Not a Secret Agent Store”) has a twist to it, including some pretty cool gadgets and gizmos you can actually buy. Check it out here, and while you’re at it also check out 826 National, their parent organization… what they’re doing and how they do it kicks ass.
At least we’re not Detroit!
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on September 2nd, 2009
Just like the end of the Cleveland Tourism Video pt. 2 says… we’re not Detroit! And good thing too. As news that their average house price continued to fall, as it began to rise for virtually every other city other than Las Vegas, I came across this interesting set of pictures.
They are from Sweet Juniper, a blog by a couple living in Detroit (who both happen to be lawyers… I hope that marriage never falls apart or it could be messy). In the pictures, they’ve documented housing around the motor city that has been taken over by nature. I love pictures of abandoned/decaying structures mostly because I love exploring them myself. These take it to the next level as nature slowly regains the hold she hand on the land. Very cool.
A couple of the pix are below, click through for many more.
